Scadden family |
William George Scadden was born on 12 July 1834, at Weymouth, Dorset. His wife, Elizabeth (nee Hodge) was also from Dorsetshire, and they were married in Midport, Dorsetshire, in 1859. |
| Together
with their five children, they sailed for New Zealand in the ship Forfarshire,
landing at Wellington in the year 1872. Alice Jane Scadden
was born in Lower Hutt on 3 August 1880, at which time George William
Scadden was a labourer.
After a short period in Lower Hutt, the Scadden family moved over the Rimutakas to Masterton, where they lived at Karepuni. Both George William Scadden and his wife Elizabeth died in 1919 and are buried in Masterton cemetary. Scadden, William, Farmer - Collingwood. NZPO Directory 1894 - 95 |
